I was born and raised in the city of Torrance, located in Southern California. Raised by a family interested in science, it is no surprise that I am passionate about learning and teaching STEM subjects. I graduated from UCSB with a chemistry degree, but my love for biology couldn’t be tamed. I returned to school and obtained a BS in Biology with a focus on ecology and animal behavioral studies, as well as a BA in psychology from California State University, Los Angeles. When I am not tutoring, I am normally found working on primate research, hiking, or playing with my sphynx cat.
ABOUT ME
MY TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching and tutoring middle school, high school, and college-level students for over 9 years. The majority of my AP students score in the top 10% of students on AP exams, while my SAT students improve their scores after working with me by at least 150 points per section. I have a passion for STEM, but I understand that, at times, these subjects can be hard and confusing. I specialize in breaking down these topics and making them understandable. I feel that learning should be enjoyed, and I want to pass this on to all students, even though they may find a topic or subject uninteresting.
MY TEACHING STYLE
I find it very important that students are comfortable with their tutors. If a student feels insecure with their tutor, fearing that if they ask the wrong question or give the wrong answer they will be thought less of, progress won’t be made. I also believe that everyone learns in a different way, and because of that, I tutor in a style tailored to the student and the topic we are covering.
