Test Background
The ACT first emerged in the 1950s and is currently accepted by all U.S. colleges and universities for admissions. Over 2,000,000 students takes the ACT worldwide each year.

Major Highlights
The ACT has four major sections (English, Math, Reading, and Science) with an optional Writing section. While many schools no longer require the Writing section, hundreds of colleges and universities “recommend” applicants to take it. Regardless if you take the Writing section or not, you’ll receive at least five scores on your score report. Students receive one score for each section (reported 1-36), one composite score (an average of the four section scores, reported 1-36), and writing scores if applicable.
